My sons biliruban level is now at 39. Normal here is below 20. All his other bloodwork comes back fine except for thàt. The doctors say not to worry but I am dealing out! He's 15 I don't know what could be causing this!!! I'm scared its something he will die from and the doctors are brushing it off. Does any one know what makes this go up? His levels have been 36, 32, 26, 23 and two months later 39?

Someone I know has high bilirubin levels, apparently it can be hereditary and doesn't usually cause (or indicate) problems, you just have to keep an eye on it I think.

Do you mind me asking what your levels were an how did you find out? With my so his eyes are slightly yellow you can't tell unless you look close

did any of you notice the whites in your eyes get tinged yellow? Nothing really dark its just like a really light yellow color? Thank you all for your responses.

I know this is an old post but there is something called Gilbert's Syndrome that causes high bilirubin when all other liver tests are normal and there is no need for treatment.
