My boss (head teacher) has made unrealistic demands of me today for next week.

How do I say I don't want to do it without being rude? :(

Aren't you in a union? They would be my first port of call especially if my boss was only making extra demands of me and no one else.

If she/he seems a fair boss then write down your concerns and ask for a 5 minute meeting to go through them - personally I like to have some solutions as well so that the boss doesn't think I'm being obstinate.

Good luck.

I was going to ask my boss whether I can just do half of the extra things she is asking me.
So therefore come to a compromise. And suggest ideas to help.

I would first try and talk to the head to try and agree a compromise. Decide what you want before speaking, and what you're prepared to give ground on. Stay calm. Mention work-life balance, and wellbeing, they're trigger words for school management.

If there's nothing doing, and they remain intransigent, speak to your union. They have the experience in dealing with unreasonable workload demands and are able to reign in management with no concern or understanding of a personal life.
