ear and throat pain

Help now in a panic again. Had ear stinging pain for 8 months with tonsil-opp side very sore and red too. Sore throat comes and goes. ear worse if i have laid on it. Worried this may be something badly wrong with tonsil. Doc just says its nerve pains I have fibro symptoms too. Plus tender spot on head and stabbing pains occ in head-same side as sore ear. Had few pains in left ear too.Should I insisit on a referral to ENT? Antibiotics seemed to take the stinging off the ear but only for 10 days.Then it came back as bad as before.
