I have had a mole on my throat for as long as I can remember and when I was about 25 I was referred to the hospital and they took a photo of it to monitor for changes. This afternoon when I looked in the mirror I noticed that the centre of it has turned dark brown. I called my doctors and just my luck they are closed for a training day. I called 111 and they said I should have it checked in 6 hours so I have and appointment at Urgent Care at 5:30. I am really worrying about it and already thinking the worst :(

I really would not worry if you have had it that long. I had a dark centre on a mole once and it turned out to be a hair folicle that was growing! It sounds like a complete over-reaction by the 111 team to suggest you be seen in 6 hours - No wonder the NHS is in crisis - And I am not meaning to be rude to yourself as I understand it is distressing but I think they have caused you unnecessary worry

Fingers crossed Annie, I do agree it's probably nothing after all this time. I have some on my face. sometimes they get paler in the middle & then go back to the same colour they were. I do keep an eye on them but generally forget they r there. Make sure u let us know how you get on.

I am back...there was a long wait as all the doctors surgery's in the area are closed for training so the urgent care centre is extra busy. The doctor said she thinks I may have scratched it. I am wondering if maybe I caught it on my necklace. She wants me to see my GP this week and they may decide to refer me to a specialist to have it checked again anyway and compared to the last photo they took of it. She did say that if it was her, she wouldn't be losing any sleep worrying about it so that has reassured me. I am pleased I was seen tonight otherwise I would have been in a state worrying about it.

I've got moles seen by specialists in the past. It's always better to just get it seen by a dermatologist just to be extra sure. FYI all my moles were fine, I am a very moley person with blue eyes so a higher risk of skin cancer, but 99.99% of the time everything's fine.

Thank you everyone :) Rennie, that is reassuring thank you. I don't know what I would do without all my friends here on NMP. Hugs to all of you :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs: The trouble is with it being on my throat, I can't really see it properly myself, only through the mirror and when I looked at I just thought..oh no it has changed, that has to be bad!
