Palpitations night after night

Ok I'm getting really worried now for these say 6-7 weeks Iv been having horrible palpitations at night! I occasionally have them in day but usually only once or twice. When I'm relaxing of a night time that's when they hit.. Sometimes there that bad they make me jump and feel breathless it's like my heart misses a beat then starts again with a flutter an I can sometimes feel ur in my throat. I haven't been anxious lately Iv been quite relaxed and I'm not thinking about them at night they just happen. Scared I'm going to drop dead

Hi Sarah.. this was me earlier in the year, palpitations and ectopics got me so scared I hardly did anything.. didn't go for any walks (just in case), didn't lift the hoover upstairs (just in case) - I felt like my heart was really fragile and about to do something.

I was reassured by my GP and eventually by a cardio specialist that my heart was fine and I should try to ignore the palps/ectopics.. which bit by bit I've mostly achieved. I've found that eating smaller meals, especially last one of the day, helps, also lying on my right side in bed, and if my stomach feels bloated or upset, I take an antacid, all of which seem to have a lessening of symptoms effect on my heart.

I've been plagued by them at night lately too and I don't think its a coincidence that I've also had indigestion. The above advice is very good :)

I don't know if I have indigestion... I just know I seem to feel horrendous again because it hits when I'm not anxious so in my mind its a real medical complaint. It doesn't help that I found out my paternal grandmother died when she was in her 40s from a undiagnosed heart condition, my brother has a dodgy heart missing valves an a few other issues an looking at him he seems in perfect health if anything he actual abuses his body his attitude is he doesn't care if he dies he's not scared and he will enjoy his time on earth (he party's hard) and my daughter has a hole in her heart. Iv had countless ecgs over the yrs all normal apart from 2 which were slightly irregular whatever that means !!!
