Does anyone else suffer on and off with this lump in the throat sensation? I have been going through a really bad bout of indigestion over the last few weeks and doc gave me Ranitidine as I didn't want to rush to go back on my lansaprasole (which I have taken on and off for last few years). Ranitidine didn't help so I started back on the lans 1 x 15 mg twice a day, hasn't really helped a great deal but it is a bit better. Then out of the blue last week, after having taken the tabs diligently for 4 weeks (and still burping), I suddenly started with this lump in the throat last week. I had this years ago and went to the ENT specialist who said my throat was inflamed and gave me lansaprasole for 4 weeks, it cleared up the minute I walked out of the consultation room! How can this current episode be as a result of acid reflux/indigestion if I have just had a month of PPI's? Could this be anxiety?? Saw the doc 3 weeks ago about pain under ribs (which I have also had for years and had every test possible for (gastroscopy, ultrasounds, MRCP scan etc. - all ok) and he put me on anti-depressants as was more concerned about my mood than the pain - didn't seem unduly worried about the indigestion either. Am due to go back next week to see how I am getting on with anti-depressants and now will have to mention lump in throat. Pain under ribs gets better, now its something else!! So fed up with this health anxiety it is all consuming!:weep:

I feel your pain, I really do as I feel the same. You think you're getting over it and then its something else :(

I've had the lump in my throat sensation, it lasted months, was awful and one thing I really couldn't understand being anxiety related but my doctor assured me it was x

Thanks for your replies - it is so hard to accept it is anxiety and I don't know why I/we suffer like this, just want to get on with life - so fed up with it all. Good to know I am not alone - there are a lot of posts on this topic alone, can't believe it is so common!

Hi, I have had the lump in throat feeling for months, got a referral to ENT and they said all ok but still got the lump. Mine is in between my collar bone where it meets. Still hard to accept that its just anxiety x

Before I went to ENT I was constantly shining a torch into my mouth and convinced myself I had tonsil cancer. ENT put camera up nose into throat and said all ok. Just wish this lump feeling would go as I am constantly coughing/clearing throat to try make it go

Don't they normally put a camera down the throat? I'm so scared don't want a camera down there.

I have had one put down throat into stomach but that was for gastric, ENT normally put it up nose into throat. It didnt hurt and was over in about a minute. Was just a long thin tube with a light on the end

Rest assured its not painful and its quite quick (camera/tube up nose and down throat).

I had it about 8 years ago and results were normal.
