Hi,
I am really scared right now. Iv had an uncomfortable ache around the area my left kidney is for quite a few months now, It hurts like a bruise when pressed. So i finally got ultrasound today and they found something on the kidney, At first i heard one of the girls say cyst and then the main woman was more thorough and kept looking and said i have to be referred to a specialist for more detailed scan. Iv since totally panicked. I saw the look on there faces and am convinced its cancer and i did ask her that and she said iv seen nothing to convince me its cancer but im not a doctor she mentioned stone or something its all a blur i went into a panic. She said go to my doctors in the next few days! Why so quick? omg im so lightheaded i am sure i now have kidney cancer. Devastated.

Firstly you need to know that renal cancer is rare. Secondly it is incredibly treatable as you can survive on something like a third of one kidney. (I know because my dad has for 30 years). Try not to worry.

Thanks for the replys. I have been up all night like iv been handed a death sentence I can't cope. I did hear one nurse mention a stone but the I think she said whatever it is it hasn't effected the kidney yet. Seems very quick having to go see the doctor a day later. I'm so shakey and anxious its horrible.

Just been to the docs,
He isnt sending me to a specialist or for another scan he said hes positive its a kidney stone and nothing else. The report said POSSIBLE kidney stone so how is he so sure?
I do feel a lot calmer now and the ache has calmed down a bit. But theres still that voice in my head asking how is he so sure. Especially after the woman doing the scan said i would need a more detailed scan with a specialist.

Possibly to provide a bit of certainty when you were sure you had cancer. Even if the doctor is wrong, a kidney stone is not life-threatening and is treatable.

I've been for various medical procedures over the years. My advice would be not to try to make your own conclusions from the various concerns or difficulties of the person carrying out the procedure - they may have nothing to do with your health status.
