Hi
I am currently going through tests (which are coming back clear) for severe back pain which is spreading to the top half of my legs and knees .
Could this be due to my medication ?
I am on 60mgs of Fluoxitine .
I have had blood tests and scans / X-rays for arthritis , osteoporosis etc , but all are clear.
Im in so much pain I just cant stand it anymore. Its making life seriously hard

Thanks

If you have tension in the band of muscle across your lower back, it will cause pains down your legs. I am seeing a physiotherapist about the same thing and it is improving.

Has anyone considered sciatica, or mentioned it to you?

This can start from the lower back and affect the bottom and legs right down to the feet, as the sciatic nerve runs right down through from the back to the feet. It is also incredibly painful. My Dad had it for a long time, and physio helped him a great deal.

Ive been through Physio over the last 5 years and its done nothing :( Even tried Zumba to stay active but it doesnt help.
I thought it could be sciatica but if Physio doesnt help ???? :/

Have you tried gentle yoga exercises? I have back pain and find exercises that strengthen the core muscles help. By gentle I mean not to exert yourself too much, especially if you're in pain.

I am still going through tests atm , been told not to exercise until I get results :/
The pain keeps spreading and it is very painful.
Will update more when I know more :)

Thanks for the replies xxx

I have experienced this on and off since having my son 8 years ago.

This year it had been getting really bad, lower backache radiating to my hips and down my legs, walking the dog was awful and I felt like my legs would buckle.

I can't afford to see an osteopath so did some googling and found a lot of good reviews for a back stretcher.

I bought one 3 weeks ago from argos and it has really done wonders and although I think I will always have a weakness in that area it is sooooo much better.
