Citalopram & Pregnancy

Hello,

I am on 20mg Citalopram and am trying for a baby. Anyone else know if this can lessen the chances of getting pregnant or anyone else been in the same situation.

It won't reduce your chances of conceiving (the ingrediants in anti-depressants don't interfere with feminine and pregnancy hormones or the uterus) BUT I have heard that taking anti-depressants so early during pregnancy may (unlikely) cause issues with the pregnancy itself, and the baby. I'd highly recommend you speak to your GP regarding this, he may say it's OK to carry on taking Citalopram whilst trying for a baby but it's best to ask him.

Start talking folic acid supplements, by the way, it's good to start taking them before you try for a baby :)

Thank you, might go see the doctor then. Yep got my folic acid and started with that :)
