who has stopped taking antidepressants for good

i am wondering how many people who are on this forum have been on antidepressants for some years ,have stopped them and not had to go back on again.?

I was on Dothiepin for about 6 months and then Prozac for nearly a year and stopped taking them in Jan 98 - so 8 years ago now.

I had up to 5 weeks ago. Then last week-end was at the local hospital Saturday and Sunday. Saw the emergency doctor on call. I was a total mess. Crying, trembling, head pounding so much I couldn't hold my head up. He gave me a months course of Fluoxetine and 10 Diazepam 2mgs. He was a lovely guy and had plenty of time for me. Explained everthing about the meds. I have only taken 2 of the diazepam and the Fluoxetine is making me feel sick and I have headaches, but he said this should all calm down within the next 2 weeks.

I have decided if it means me taking 1 tablet a day for me to get some sort of normality in my life then it will be worth it.
