I've been taking this for a week and I now feel SO LOW/down. I'm struggling to carry on and don't know whether to stop these meds immediately. I feel like crying/so emotional for no reason all the time. My wife has had enough of my mental health problems and I feel very alone and am wondering whether it's worth the struggle to keep going. My psych insists I should keep taking meds . I am totally confused and so low That I feel suicidal

Hello there JB,

Really so sorry to read how you are feeling, you aren't alone, and you must carry on, you WILL get better it just takes a bit of time. I completely understand how you are feeling, many of us on this site have felt as you do, but you will get through this.

Have you been referred to the Crisis Team, or the Recovery Team through the NHS? Please try and get in touch with your psychiatrist or GP and tell them how bad you are feeling. There are also phone lines like the Samaritans or Mind who you can talk to in confidence. Please don't go through this on your own. Could you confide in a family member or a trusted friend for some support whilst your medication begins to work?

Please, please try to access some support to help you get through this.

Please let us know how you get on and sending you :bighug1:

Kind regards.

J xx

Hi there, the venlafaxine will take a good couple of weeks to get in your system, and it does seem to make you feel worse before better. At my lowest i would cry and did not want to wake up every morning. I would say 6-8 weeks is when you start to notice an improvement, maybe sooner, it doesn't happen over night that's for sure! And most experience increased anxiety. Hope this helps slightly, good luck!
