4 weeks ago I was rushed to hospital with severe breathing problems. Pneumonia was suspected but subsequent xray and blood test showed it wasn't pneumonia. Since then I have had 2lots of steroids and I'm on my 4th lot of antibiotics. I also have inhaler and have been given cough medicine and painkillers. My cough is virtually non existent now and no temp. But mucus is becoming dark green again and very thick. The taste it leaves in my mouth is disgusting. My chest feels very tight and I'm exhausted. I'm concerned it might be cancer now because there seems no other explanation. Please can anyone offer advice?

Doesn't sound like cancer, and given the symptoms this would be very likely to show on a CXR by now (early stage lung cancers rarely display any symptoms), but certainly sounds like a chest infection. Given what you've described about the taste and mucus, it's could be a resistant form of Strep or Staph which would need another change of antibiotics.

I hope so, after 4 different antibiotics already and no real sign of it improving obviously my mind is going to wander toward more sinister causes.
