Hi yes caffeine can make anxiety worse, I used to have about ten mugs a day but now have cut this to one and drink camomile tea the rest of the time, i had a strong coffee the other day and noticed the effect it had me, so it makes a big difference.:)

I used to drink a lot of coffee and found that the caffeine was giving me palpatations which in turn was giving me increased anxiety. I have one cup in the morning and then switch to tea through out the rest of the day.

I stopped drinking coffee 2 months ago. I had a return of bad palpatations and anxiety, so decided to drop it immediately. So far, no more palpatations.

Caffeine stimulates the central nervous system. As anxiety sufferers all ready have an over sensitized nervous system it is best to avoid it as it will only increase anxiety.

I was pretty much scared off coffee when I had this really strong iced coffee and threw me into a full-blown panic attack. Now I only stick with light roast mixed with decaf.

Decaf coffee or tea is better for you xx

Yes! I went caffine free around the same time I went med free. I would drink a pot + coffee a day (truck driver! Lol). I am much more relaxed these days! Coffee is bad bad bad! Lol

The first week or so was rough, but after that you adjust and you don't miss it. I drink decaf now, cause I do like the taste. And hey, I can have a cup right before bed and still fall asleep! ;)

If you suffer anxiety I recommend you not to take coffee at all.
Caffeine is not going to calm you down but the opposite.

I used to like drinking strong coffee to wake me up in the mornings after bad attacks of insomnia, but after recent experiences have now given up on drinking it entirely.

When my anxiety & depression problems became a lot worse about a month ago, I found that drinking strong coffee made me feel absolutely terrible for the rest of the day, so now it's just tea for me (which I preferred anyway).

Green Tea is supposed to be much healthier so I often drink that too, but after 9pm I stick to Caffeine Free Fruit/Herbal Teas in order to reduce my issues with insomnia.

Hi,
I also found coffee increased my anxiety so switched to decaf a few years back. In addition too much sugar or alcohol seems to affect me too so reduced my intake of both. Feel much better (and healthier) for it.
Good luck.

About the green tea I drink it a lot. It is very healthy and delicious. The fruit machine is a good option, use this -link- (http://www.onlinecasinounitedkingdom.co.uk/mummysgold.htm) to play.
Anyway, for the coffee lovers there is nothing better than a cup of strong coffee.
As almos all in life, possibly it is about being in balance. So a cup of coffee once in a while will not kill anybody.
On the other hand we have the decaf coffee as an option.

I love coffee. Sadly though, it makes my anxiety and intrusive thoughts worse. Yes, there is decaf, but its not really the same, and you can't get the range of flavours/varieties.
