Does anyone get twitchy when they are anxious? I am on 20mg citalopram and I know that jerking can be a side effect but while I had it the first two weeks, it went away again. Now though, whenever I am anxious (which is by and large for at least one period of a day!) my arms and legs twitch. It is not completely involuntary, it is a bit like blinking, I can stop it if I think about it! If I dont, my limbs do their own independent jig.
Anyone else experience anything similar?

I too get twitches when I'm really tired or pretty stressed. I had it way before meds and can't really say I've noticed it lately. (likewise 20mg citalopram/day)

Cheers

cheers for replies. It is reassuring toknow that something isn't just me.
The positive side of my twitching is I think I must be burning calories without even trying, as I am never really still!

Hiya, I too get twitches, usually above my right eye. It can last days! Yep it's awful but I kind of get used to it when it happens! You are not on your own hun, it is definately part of anxiety! x

Hi Happyone, my legs twitch all the time, I notice it most when I'm chilling out at home. It's something that I've had ever since I had my very first panic attack about 2 years ago. I've only been on Prozac for about 5 months, took Diazepam before then so I reckon its a classic symptom of anxiety, even though it was pretty scary when it first started happening. It felt like when you go to the doc's and he tests your reflexes, my legs shoot out all over the place!

Morning Happyone,

I'm on 40mg of citalopram a day and twitch like an undead person in a bad zombie film![V]

From my fingers to my toes I'm constantly shaky but when I find myself relaxing or even just thinking of nothing in particular I have these, well, 'spasms' that sneak up on me. I find myself jerking into an alert state and realising that anyone around me had noticed me having a mini-fit[Oops!]

I've, obviously, never actually felt the feeling but I likened my all-body spasms to being cut in half from top to toe by a Samurai sword linked to the electricity system!![Wow!] Daft I know but that's the sensation I get .... too much Kill Bill I think?!!!!

Happiness and light to all,
'Chopper'

I saw her once, one little while, and then no more:
’Twas Eden’s light on Earth a while, and then no more.
Amid the throng she passed along the meadow-floor:
Spring seemed to smile on Earth awhile, and then no more;
But whence she came, which way she went, what garb she wore
I noted not; I gazed a while, and then no more!

Thanks chopper,
by your answer to this post, it sort of answers another post I had left about a feeling like an electric shock through the night.
