Since a teen I have had to count and check things.
Like patterns and locks on doors.
Sometimes dozens of times.
I feel I have to.
Its insecurity I feel.[Sigh...]

i count everything i used to count the cracks in the pavement on the way to school then i couldnt walk on a crack.
i check my cars locked so many times before i leave it.
it wears me out all the checking i do

Bah. I know how you feel. I have to count a certain multiples of 8 lots of times before I feel I can sleep.[|)]*interweb hugs*

Its so annoying.[8)]
Yep, I'm with you on this one. On my bad days I have to check my rooms locked, my bike's locked, my phone's in my pocket, my car's locked, that I have my keys, that I haven't left anything behind, that my pony's gate's shut...all at least 5 times before I feel I can leave them.
This has only very recently got out of hand, and I haven't mentioned it to a doctor because he'll probably just say that it's different symptoms of the same thing.
It does get very tiring though, and it takes you FOREVER to get anywhere and do anything.
