I was put on anti bs on wednesday, had been suffering with bad sinus pain for 2 weeks and I had developed a temperature so went up the drs that night and was given amoxicillin 250mg 3x a day. I have been on them almost 5 days and after 2 days I felt abit better but now im back in pain in my right ear and eye, id of thought by now id be feeling better or can they take longer?

I am waiting to see an ENT surgeon in January, seems a lifetime away, ive been suffering like this for well over a year now and there is very little my GP can do for me now. Even neurofen doesn't touch the ache because its an awful pressure.

Does anyone have any tips on what else I can do for this chronic & acute sinusitis in the mean time? dr says i have both, my ear and head feel like they are pulsing.

I can't help but worry about the meningitis risk (yet again) also im worrying I might have an ear tumour or something nasty like a brain absess (another complication of chronic sinusitis) im worried sick.

Hi Jem,
I am also on anti biotics for my sinuses at the moment (started yesterday)
I have pains all over my face and head like you and with us suffering with anxiety our bodies are so sensitive to any pain, I can relate to how you fear worse things are wrong with you, I am also worried about meningitus, brain absesses etc so I can understand how you feel.

Its good that you are going to see an ENT specialist and please try not to worry, if your gp had suspected anything worse they would have sent you straight to the hospital.

Have you tried any steam inhalations? They can help, also add some vicks to the hot water and inhale, it is very good at clearing up the sinuses, also rub some your chest.
And drink lots of water with maybe some lemon juice as vitamin c is always good!!

Hope you feel better soon!!

Hi, sorry to hear you are both suffering, it does sound the same.

I went private with Bupa this week thanks to my hubby. I saw a ENT consultant and had a CT scan last night so by monday I shall know whats going on in there.

He told me that meningitis is a very rare complication and not to worry at all, he said its linked more to ear infections so im alot more relaxed.

Thats good you're getting it sorted sooner than expected!!

I'm sure all will be clear for you and your mind can be put to rest on Monday.

Sorry do you mind me asking how much it was for you to see an ENT consultant and have the CT scan? Or was it your husbands health insurance?
I think I should marry a man with private health insurance lol

Hope all's well I'm sure it will be :)
