HI

I HAVE ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION. THE ANXIETY IS THE WORST TO COPE WITH. I HAVE IT 24/7 AND AT THE MOMENT FEELS LIKE THERE IS NO ESCAPE FROM IT EITHER AT WORK OR AT HOME. I NO WORK IS THE MAIN FACTOR AS MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE NO WORK TO DO, WHICH MAKE ME OVERTHINK AND HAVE RACING MIND AS I HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO CONCENTRATE ON. MOST OF THE TIME I FEEL CONFUSED AND TIRED. SOMETIMES NOTHING CAN MAKE SENSE. MY GP HAS PUT ME ON BETA BLOCKERS WHICH I HAVE BEEN ON FOR 3 WEEKS NOW. I AM ALSO SEEING A PSHY NURSE TO HELP ME THROUGH MY PROBLEMS. I HAVE TRIED ASKING FOR MORE WORK BUT THE ONLY RESPONSE I GET IS SORRY WE HAVNT GOT ANY. I HAVE TRIED LOOKING FOR OTHER JOBS BUT I LIVE IN A SMALL VILLAGE AND THERE ISNT MUCH ABOUT. I JUST FEEL LIKE I AM GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES. I DONT NO WHAT TO DO, FEELS LIKE NO ESCAPE. I DONT WANT TO GET TO THE POINT OF WHERE I AM NOT AT WORK ANYMORE AS I HAVE DONE THAT AND DONT WANT TO BE THERE AGAIN. THIS FEELING IS SO HORRIBLE TO COPE WITH. ANY TIPS ON WHAT I COULD DO PLEASE?

Hi there, am so sorry you are having such a rough time at the moment, and although you are feeling so down, i admire you so much for continuing to work...whilst you are there would you be able to read/write poems or stories or something that you enjoy to do? (sorry if that is not appropriate in your job) Have a good look around this site, you will find so much helpful information and will realise that you are not alone in anything you are feeling. Things will get better, but it is not an overnight thing! See how you go with the tablets, and if no improvement after a while go back to your doctors and explain how you feel. Sorry of no real help, but just wanted to say you are not alone...xxxxxxx

Thankyou for your replies. I so hope things will get better. The feelings I have are so bad at times. Please could someone clarify if these feelings are normal

1. Feel very anxious
2. Feel bored all the time
3.Lack concentration
4. Feel angry
5. Feel irritated

Is there anything I can do to rid myself of these feelings apart from taking the medication? I have been like this for a very long time now, and it would be so nice just to be normal again. My cousin said that ect is very good, she had it and she is now 100% better. I have sufferd from depression and anxiety for around 7 years, I am getting to the point where I am running out of options. I have tried almost everything.

Hey Chez! I hear ya! Gosh you know...when I hear stuff like this I feel like I am reading about a long lost species that I belong to. I feel like all those around me are of a different species except when I come on here. I'm going through the same thing you are Chez. Feel exactly the same in every way so if you want to ask me anything go ahead I'll answer anything I'm not shy. Have a read of some of my posts and I think you'll find similarities. I couldn't concentrate at work at all so I became self employed as I'm PETRIFIED of working for anyone. Mainly because A I am terrified of controlled environments and responsibilty and B. I have lost (through no fault of my own) 21 jobs in a row. The only way I can work now is for myself so I set up my own business and work part time. I find that har but it's better than being suicidally depressed as I was before I did it. My councellors have been pretty crap too. Am waiting to see a pyschiatrist now. if I were you Chez I'd lay it on thick with your nurse. Tell him/her you feel like topping yourself even if you don't. They have to refer you to a psychiatrist if you are in danger.
