I can't imagine living with these stupid thoughts day in and day out and trying to function normally. I have scheduled two dr. appts. but I've been down that road before. I am hoping that this will pass as all my other OCD quirks have! I just hope it doesn't take as long! I need to be there for my son! I love him more than anything in this world! Why do we have to suffer from such a awful disorder?

Hey Worrywart

My view is that this stuff is cyclical and until we tackle whatever the root causes are we wil keep coming back to places we would rather not be.

The up side is that we will get better, it is just sustaining it when we get there!! I too have had horrible thoughts that at times I just can't shift, meds appear to have helped on that but I want to tackle the deep rooted stuff too.

I can't related to the OCD stuff but I know there are heaps of folks in here who can.

You are not alone.

Take care

Iain

Hi WorryWart,

I can totally understand where you are coming from, i used to have this problem all the time, i have been learning how to distract my negative thoughts with the CBT i have had.

When your negative thoughts start to take over try to distract yourself, look through a window and count the different coloured cars going past, or even make words out of car numberplates or if your at home make sums in your head, count the differnt colours in the carpet or curtains, there are lots of ways you can use distraction, here are a posts that may help too:
