Avatars for new forum

Ok I never thought I would agree to doing this but when we move to the new forum people seem to like the idea of avatars.

What is it?

Avatars are these little cartoon pictures you see next to peoples names. They are something that you feel represents you and your personality. It is just a bit of fun but very popular on message forums.

So if you want a specific avatar on the new forum then please let me know and I will try and find it for you - can't promise I will but I will try.

I already have a piglet, an eeyore, a dolphin and a pig for the admins lol so let me know what you want !

Im sure you can upload any image, as long as its 100x100 pixels, and less than about 60k. I might be wrong. Definately the Profile Image can be that size, so I dont see why an Avatar is any different.

With regard to custom avatars, it appears there is nothing to stop one person from hijacking, so-to-speak, another's image. Shouldn't personalised images be excluded from the 'Pre-defined Generic Avatars'? Creating a new folder outside of the shared pool is all that would be required I should imagine, however I have no experience with vBulletin.

Not a huge issue I know, but I've been thinking of creating one for myself and would not wish to share it with someone else. The point of a custom avatar surely being the desire to create a unique identity.

Gary - I don't think I can do much other than create a new category for avatars but then people can still choose from that.

I could allow people to upload their own but then I have no control over what gets put on here and some avatars that people have asked for have not been suitable shall we say so I don't want to do that either.

As I said it's not a big deal in the scheme of things, more of a 'Why didn't the developers add this function?' type question.

I suppose if I choose a picture of myself then the odds are against anyone else wanting to use it. In fact they'd have to be wrong in the head or something.
