Hello everyone,

I'm not very good at intro's so here goes..! I'm Steph from Leeds. I've suffered with varying levels and types of anxiety I think most of my life. It's been getting worse over the last year or two (oh, the joys of working from home and google) I suffer with emetophobia which has currently taken a back seat to some horrible health anxiety (so much worse than the emetophobia, never thought I'd say that!)

I touched on my anxiety with my doctor recently and was given a list of websites to look at - if possible I'd prefer to 'train' myself to think differently and avoid meds (if that's even possible?!)

I'm hoping I can find some support here, and maybe provide some support to anyone else out there.

So, hi!

Hello Steph,
I am Danielle from London.
I have never had a fear of vomiting but I have had terrible intrusive thoughts and also I am struggling with health anxiety at the moment. When I had the thoughts I read a book by David Veale called overcoming OCD and it really helped me. I am not reading his book titled overcoming Health anxiety. It has a chapter dedicated to emetophobia aswell and I think you will find it useful. I know reading seems like the last thing you want to do but Knowledge of this horrible disease is beneficial. It does provide some relief. I have an appointment with Dr Veale himself in Feb and I am hoping he can help me once and for all. He works for the Priory in North London and specialises in health anxiety. Have a read, it can't do any harm x

This site is fab for support and advice Steph.

Hang in there - if you can train yourself that's great. The first step is realising you have a problem.

Hope you sort things out, keep in touch.

Marty
