What the hell just happened

So I just had the "food go down the wrong tube" thing happen while I was eating dinner which brought on a horrible coughing fit.

Mid way through this fit I felt an excruciating pop/ tear on the right side of my neck/throat and now it hurts like hell even swallowing water hurts really badly as well as with any kind of movement.

I'm really concerned I did some serious damage and either tore something or caused a blood clot or something else. What makes it worse is it's bed time which is hard on good nights for me now I have this to worry about

Sympathies. It's horrible when food goes down the wrong way. The coughing fit most likely pulled something in your neck. As for the sore throat feeling, I have gotten that after this incident but it wears off. I wouldn't have thought you've done anything serious even though it's mightily uncomfortable.
