Hi, Don't worry , i've had the same it is anxiety with out question. My heart doe's all sorts of things, and changes all the time. But i know its a good strong heat as i used to run marathons and have just given birth again. I'ts just that we have bcome so sensitive to it we feel every flutter in our chest. Have you read any books about it? I find they really help.

hi there i have experienced this too, like you told its anxiety-anyway been to see 2 cardiologists this year- 1st one did all the tests, showed my heart was fine just was having ectopics....then i went to see someone else 2 weeks ago..thinks my heart is fine but having a moniter fitted and another treadmill test next month........
the thing is these doctors can give us reassurance but it doesnt take the funny beats away does it?........and for me i think i will always worry until my anxiety settles down and i can just forget about my heart and let it do its job without me analysing it all the time....do you think about these irregular beats all the time or just when they occur? maybe -i know its hard but you need to ignore them and just let your heart beat the way it wants-it will settle down it always does with anxiety-if you had a heart problem, you would have found out about it by now..
take carexx

Hi Molly.... I'm new to the board but I can relate to your irregular hearts beats. In fact I wrote the book, Fears Flutterby, because of the panic attacks and rapid heartbeats, and agoraphobia I used to have. I started having irregular heart beats back when I was 46 years old. Had 12 monitors, and stress tests and all the rest of the stuff that goes with testing. Finally a monitor did pick up the beats that would wake me up out of a sound sleep at one in the morning. Finally I found a doctor that deals ONLY with the heart beat. I had an EP study done and they found I have Ventricular Tack. He told me that when I had the Flu back when I was 16 years old it screwed up the electrical system of my heart. I had been having missed beats since the flu which caused me to have panic attacks and then agoraphobia, just plain afraid to do anything. Since the medication I can get around pretty well, even play tennis. But I have to say the fears never went away. They scared my brain I guess you say. Hope this helps you. Please see the right kind of doctor. Rose rmLamatt

Dear Marcia, I related to your post and would like to offer some help. I myself at the age of 16 started having missed heart beats after a bout with the Flu. Then when I was in my forties my heart began to wake me up out of a sound sleep, beating out of my chest. I couldn't take my pulse because it was beating so fast. For a year I went to doctor afer doctor and they all said it was due to anxiety. I had been anxious most of my life but I knew somehow this was different. Finally I had something called and EP Study done of the heart. It showed I had an electrical problem. It seems that when I had the Flu way back when it killed a few heart cells and threw the beat off. I had what is called Ventrical Tachycardia. Doc, gave me one pill to take for the rest of my life and it has worked. Before a doctor tells you it's anxiety, please follow though with another opinion, mainly a heart doctor. I still have panic attacks and light agoraphobia, but as I've said in a few of my posts, I've learned to call them friends now. These so called friends led me to write a book (Fears Flutterby) of 46 years of anxiety, panic attack, fear of dying, fear of driving, agoraphobia and anything else that goes with fear. Fear did a job on me for many years and now I try to use it as something good that happened to me, a gift you might say. It taught me well to know, don't put your life on standstill because of fear.
Hope this helped you. Rose / rm Lamatt

Don't walk in front of me I may not follow.
Don't walk behind me I may not lead.
Just walk beside me and be my friend
