Hi everyone....me again! Sorry!

I have not long been back from the doctors as today I had a really odd fluttering sensation with my heartbeat, not like the normal ectopics I have - this was really different and left me feeling very dizzy and in complete panic stations! Anyway the doctor listened to my heart and told me there was a slight murmur but as I am 22 weeks pregnant now it is normal (most pregnant women have this apparently) ......Now I am worried! (that does'nt take much) my heart is the one thing that gets me into a state every time so being told this has thrown me into oblivion! Does anyone have any comments or experiences that are similar to this, is this in fact true (I am not suggesting the doc lied....just I ....well I need reassurance I think!) Never been told anything about having a murmur before now and I have had loads of tests done on my heart (because of the ectopics) - monitors, ecg's, echocardiogram, bloods all these have come back normal before now yet she told me this today! I am confused! Any comments would be greatly appreciated....as always.

Hi Angie,

If the doctor was at all worried he would have you in for tests like a shot. I found out I had a murmur 20 years ago (crumbs that makes me feel old) when I was expecting the first piglet. During my 2nd pregnancy it seemed more apparent so I had some scans etc and saw a specialist but other than telling the dentist (so I have antibiotics if I have treatment) that was that.

Very common indeed!!!

"Supposing it didn't," said Pooh after careful thought.

Hi Angie,

congratulations on your preganancy. I was told i had a slight murmur with my first child (15years ago!) I have had two other children, (my last 2yrs ago) and its never been mentioned since. My husband was born with one as well and no one has ever said anything since he was a child.

Hi Angie -
Yep it is very common while pregnant to have a murmer. My doc found it when I was pregnant with my 1st and 3rd and 4th babies (now all teenagers) and told me how common it was - stress that point ALOT because of my health anxiety.
I've never had a problem since having my girl - got my tubes tied QUICK after that.
CONGRATS on the baby!!!! :)

Hi Angie
Whilst pregnant with my first child i was told i had a slight murmur ( this of course completely freaked me out), But the docs told me it was nothing to worry about. Whilst pregnant with my 2nd it wasn't even mentioned. I've had my heart listened to since and my doctor who is really quite good hasn't even picked up on it , so i'm sure its resolved itself ,my eldest now is 12 so if it was serious i'm sure something would have happened by now. Seemingly it is a really common condition in pregnancy. D'ont you just love being a woman...........

Take care and good luck xx

Thank you all for your reassurances. Just feeling really freaked out about everything at the moment. I always knew being pregnant would be a huge test for me with the health anxiety and all but did not think I would be this bad! Now my blood pressure is low again and I am feeling soooo tired all the time and just have zero energy, sorry for moaning so much! I really am so happy to expecting a baby ( now I know its a Boy too) I am over the moon but when my anxiety hits its highs like this I just don't know what to do with myself and I know the extra stess is not good for bubby either.
