Hi

Has anyone had to have a core biopsy from an abnormal finding on a mammogram?

What did it turn out to be?

I am so worried.

Thanks

That is a valid reason to be worried; anyone would be.
I have not had a breast biopsy, but I wish you the best of luck.
Hopefully the results will be favorable, and then you can stop worrying.

From a us government cancer statistics site:

Approximately 250,000 american women undergo core needle biopsy each year for breast abnormalities, and cancer (both invasive and in situ) is found in 20 to 30% of those undergoing biopsy.

Now, I know this sounds scary, but just think: no cancer is found in the other 80%.
Those are good odds.
And even if cancer were found, it could very well be in situ (noninvasive) and easily removed, and you would require no further treatment.

Again, good luck. Let's hope you are in the majority: the 80% without any cancer.
