Does anyone ever find a good dose of a sleeping tablet just doesn't work one night?
I have an anxiety blip at the moment (I hope) and always struggle to sleep so I have some Zopiclone. These blips are the only time I need them. I was uncomfortably tired last night so took 1 5mg. No sleep. I took another 5mg (which I'm allowed) and managed only 3.5 hours of sleep and could only sleep fitfully for rest of the night. Such a short sleep has never happened to be before.
Of course this has made me anxious. Any thoughts?

It does happen sometimes, don't worry you'll be fine tonight

Tolerance to sleeping pills tends to happen over time... I found zopiclone effectiveness wore off rapidly after 2/3 weeks.

Other options might be a sedating antidepresssant like Mirtazapine or Amitriptyline ?

Would you say sleeping tabs work more than they don't work for you?

Hi cokesmith,
I take nitrazepam. two 5mg tablets one hour before going to bed.
Answer to your question is yes.
Having said that they do not always work. Take yesterday for instance.
I was on a day out at Liverpool, walking about all the time and was worn out,
very tired when arrived back to Stoke last night
Took my tablets as usual. Went to bed very late. Could I sleep NO.
I have tried so many different drugs to help me sleep.
Although these tablets are an old drug they helped the best, and they
do work sometimes.
I do sympathise lack of sleep is no joke.
My husband goes to sleep as soon his head touches the pillow.
He does not take any drugs for sleep. I wish I could be like that.
Take care x
