I have been diagnosed with premature atrial ventricular tach, superventricular tach, sinus tach. I have high blood pressure that just isn't coming down. I have had a ECG and a hulter monitor. The holter monitor was off the charts as in 3 pages long. There was no problem with them picking up the heartbeats, both the missed beats that exceeded 8-10 beats long as well as the beats that were over 100 even in the middle of the night while resting.
I am taking beta blocker and high blood pressure medicine. They were so bad that I had lost over 30 pounds from being nauseous. My fingertips went ice cold during these excessive palps. The medicine has reduced them to a quiet 1-2 per day of the faster heart rate and I can't seem to pick up the missed beats hardly at all.
I am more concerned than ever as a dear close friend my age just recently had a heart attack and had a triple bypass.
I also had an ekg which indicated that there was no muscle damage from the irregular beats.
I don't consider myself with high anxiety. I am quite calm, cool and collected most of the time.
My doctor tells me that one type of the tachs could cause the other and since it went on for quite sometime that it could be the case.
I had advised him of the episodes over 4 years ago and that they have increased to this magnitude. I'm not convinced that its stress and don't know what to do.
Also, would the EKG and ECG have indicated blocked arteries as my friend was lucky enough to not drop dead.
Thanks!
