Good news, ATOS has quit its contract with the government to assess whether people are fit enough to work:

Why they were allowed to assess people in the first place I don't know but this should be a positive step for people to be assessed properly, and hopefully by medical professionals and not a questionnaire.

Hope this cheers some people up.

Thanks for posting that Rennie, thats excellent news.

I agree, they are not fir for purpose to review any mental health issue. Their tests only apply to physical ailments e.g. can you pick up a pen and put it in your pocket, can you cook for yourself at home, etc. Totally ridiculous.

My thoughts on them were that they could remove people either from one list to another (the usual government number shuffling) or they would deter mental health cases from reaching appeals because they know they can press in the right places to make people so anxious as not to appeal. It's a shame that this has forced some not to appeal because I've heard appeals are conducted in a more appopriate manner, hence claimants win their appeals.
