Awful taste and headaches

There's this awful taste in my mouth, it's like a cross between an overripe melon and baked beans. Worse still, there's a smell of vomit up my nose whenever I get it. My doctor said it isn't necessarily to do with reflux, but still I worry because it seems to get worse after I burp or when I lie down/get nausea. Also it seems to lead to a whole load of headaches whenever I burp/get the taste. Any ideas what it could be?

Check your teeth.

It's common for a tooth infection to cause what you've described.

I disagree as that's the taste I get with reflux :/
