Hi, been on fluoxetine for just over 4 weeks now for anxiety panick attacks , still feeling shakey got a headache . Feeling anxious when i go out and panicky still. How long does it take before this med kicks in ? Been having anxiety for over 20 years on and off this is the first time i have tried medication, had terrible side affects with the med which have improved .Any help appreciated , need to go back to work in a week and a half , dont feel well enough at the moment.

I found with my meds that the worse I was before I started to take them, the longer it took before they started to work. Then, I found that I started to feel better gradually.

You might want to go back to your doctor for reassurance. If you are still feel unable to face work, perhaps you could talk to them about extending your sick leave.
