How long does venlafaxine take to work?

Hi all i was on 40mg of citalopram for around 2 years it no longer worked for me! So doc changed me to 75mg venlafaxine twice a day one in morning one at night!!

As i was changing i felt really low anxiety got worse again and all the negative thoughs came rushing back!!

Ive been taking venlafaxine for around 4 weeks and i dont really feel much better :-( havent really picked back up!! How long did this med take for you too see the benefits?

Hi, Kim! There is an amazing thread on here called "from citaprolam to venlaxafine, good stories please!" It was the first thing I read, and it was so reassuring and useful to me. I'm about 6 weeks on with ven and doing well, and it was between 4 and 5 weeks that I started to feel a lot better. You are probably experiencing discontinuation symptoms from the cit still, and the ven will take 6 to 8 weeks to settle in a bit more fully. You really must read this thread posted by Pinkdove, it kept me going!
