Just to add how do we know if we are getting the real Prozac or just a generic, have just done a search on here about different brands and it mentions the above

If a product was sold as Prozac and was actually something else then who ever selling it would be breaking the Trade Descriptions Act 1968. Basically, if it says it's Prozac then it must be Prozac and must contain the correct ingredients and the correct dose that Prozac is. Also if you were a long term user of Prozac and started taking a vitamin supplement (for example) which was claimed to be Prozac you'd start experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

Manufacturing and selling medication in the UK is heavily regulated so do not have to worry about any blips.

Hi Manda' have just read your other post about generic meds and yes its common for different pharmacists to use different suppliers depending on costs. The original will cost more because the manufacturer has taken the time and trouble to research it and make it and for the first year or two they have the patent on it so are the only suppliers of it at that time. When the patent period runs out other suppliers can then produce it without the added expense of making and marketing it as it is already being used, but it then has to be sold under a different name. Therefore, the generic meds are cheaper to buy, but made in the same way as the original, it doesn't mean they are inferior or fake.
