Does anyone else have any 'unusual' pets, by which I mean anything other than a standard dog/cat/hamster etc? Either in variety or in breed/species?

I find looking at pictures of cute animals helps keep my mood lifted (it really is the simple things!) and so thought it might be nice to see some of your pets :)

I have had all sorts of pets over the years, currently I have four rats and a standard xoloitzcuintli of the hairless variety (standard mexican hairless dog). I have in the past had guinea pigs, rabbits, budgies, cockatiels, various breeds of dog, ferrets, rats, mice, gerbils, bearded dragons, horses and fish.

Heres a picture of my lovely Hairless hound http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii251/Fenrisolene/DSC_0090.jpg (http://s266.photobucket.com/user/Fenrisolene/media/DSC_0090.jpg.html)

and our current rats :)

Wow, I love your dog!

I have a Leopard Gecko that I posted a picture of on here. It's in the 'Meet Lyra' thread,

I was thinking of getting a Veiled Chameleon a while ago but decided against it.

Thank you :) he's a real love bug, thinks hes a lap dog though which can be a pain as hes about the size of a doberman! haha.

Cute! :) I heard somewhere that chameleon's don;t do too well in captivity, not sure if thats true though?

My mate has a marimo ball? I'd say that's a pet, even if it is just a ball of moss.

I've posted a pic of him before and yes, it's a cat, but not just any cat....

"Bobcat Legends Socrates Ulysses" is a Pixie Bob (http://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/cats-101/videos/pixie-bob.htm). The original breed is said to have come from breeding the kittens from Red Coastal Bobcat and domestic barn cat matings. They were officially recognized as a TICA breed in 1986. They're a rather rare exotic cat with dog-like tendencies. That's something you can Google without worry ;) Our boy will be 4 in November and is very unique to say the least.

I think pixie bobs are stunning! I was looking at pictures of kittens a couple of weeks ago (when I get low I search for pets for sale and try to cheer myself up with all the cute pictures haha) Initially I was looking at peterbalds and then I saw the name pixie bob and ended up admiring them for a bit :) Do you show him, he looks like he'd lap up judges attention XD

Although he's show quality and has "Legend Cat" lineage, we've not shown him. He's very sociable when it comes to people and visitors, likes to go out for walks and rides in the truck but at close to four years old, I don't know how he'd react in a show setting with all the other animals and handling. He's the absolute sweetest boy but he turns into pure wildcat at the vets office. And a 15+ pound cat in a bad mood is a bit much to handle, even for me

My dog and kitten are fairly standard (a pug and a ragdoll)

But I do have three vampire shrimp in an aquarium. They are wonderful creatures ^^

Wow, what an unusual dog!

My pets aren't that unusual. I have two large dogs. A nearly 5 yo American Bulldog/Border collie x and a 1.5 year old Golden Retriever. Both are exceptionally good looking but the white and gold hair gets on everything!

Does the huge spider living in my kitchen window count as a pet?!

I have a bearded dragon. She's pretty cool. And I guess the cockroaches I breed for her to eat sort of count as pets as well, as I find them rather interesting little critters. Yes, I am strange

We have a houserabbit - he lives behind our sofa most of the time (has a tray for his essential needs in the corner of the dining room) and is completely free-range, although since the arthritis kicked in he can't manage the stairs so well any more.

It's a good thing he doesn't have HA (that we know of) as he lives with a brain parasite which occasionally 'activates' and gives him stroke-like symptoms. During one of these episodes he could only run in circles - we had to measure the size of the circles to see if he was getting better or not. Luckily, he was, and eventually the circles resolved into a wobbly straight line (up till then he just had to aim himself for wherever he wanted and hope that on one of his loops he'd hit the target).

He is the light of our lives, a perennial worry, and a very weird pet.

No nothing unusual I have a dog at present but l had 3 cats befor.
I kept rats and had a rabbit also a budgie. I find taking care of the more usual companion animal demanding enough.

My friend had 3 Geckos, it wasn't so much unusual he had them but they lived in the bathroom, not in a cage, just in the bathroom walking around care free. Made going to the toilet a rather different experience.

I enjoy exotic pets. I've had all sorts. My most unusual was my 6 eyed sand spider. You may have seen one on Youtube ... a video went viral years back and I ended up getting one. They bury themselves under the sand. I say unusual because they're rare, and if you get bit by one there is no anti venom. I was a bit of an idiot because it was my second spider I ever owned. Thankfully they can't climb glass.

My last spider was an OBT (Orange Bitey Thing). It's orange. It bites. And it's aggressive. But I love my spiders. I'll get some pics of them shortly. I'm on the hunt for a blue cobolt. If you like spiders feel free to check her out: https://www.thesun.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/NINTCHDBPICT000478366843.jpg?w=620

Do not click that link if you don't like spiders.
