Hi

I am back on the Sertraline after having bad side effects with Fluoxetine. The problem is my weight has dropped a lot. I have had blood test done but they have come back 'normal' I have stopped getting on the scales now.

Is anyone else out there having problems with weight loss ?

Morning Jenny,

I didn't have any weight fluctuation whilst on Fluoxetine but it didn't control my aggitation/anxiety/depression so I was switched to Citalopram and have lost around three stone in a year.

I'm not complaining, I had it to loose![:I]

hi jenny,

i had been off meds for 6 months up until 18 days ago and i went onto fluoxetine. i have noticed also that i am loosing a lot of weight on this and it is a side effect of it, i am going to the doctors next week to discuss this and talk about maybe going back on my original meds as i think although my mood has lifted i cant cope with the weight looss either as this is how this all started with me 2 years ago and i lost an awful lot of weight in a very short space of time and after getting my weight back up to a healthy 10stone from 8 1/2 i dont want to drop back into that again, i understand totally what you are going through and maybe now that you have come off prozac you will start to notice the difference soon. it is definatly a side effecr of this hun so try not to let it worry you too myuch easier said than done i know.

take care

Jenny,

Could the Sertraline be causing a lack of appetite? The Citalopram makes me feel nauseous almost permanently so I've no appetite at all, hence the weight loss.

When I do eat, it's small amounts of, basically, vegetables or pulses, I can't seem to tolerate anything like meat. I suppose you could say I was an 'involuntary vegetarian'!:D

Hi Jenny,

I am not on any meds at the minute but lost a lot of weight over the summer due to bad anxiety and panics.I now weigh exactly 7 stone which is way too thin for me.Ive never been more than 8 stone 3lbs anyway but when i feel crap just the thought of food makes me wretch.Only when i start picking up so does my weight but i find i'm worrying about being too thin now aswell as everything else!!!

Take care,Candie xxxxx
