I have just had my first Hyperventilation session with my therapist where I was made to have a panic attack of sorts - showing most of the physical symptoms - BUT somehow it didnt quite feel the same because at the clinic and with her I knew I was safe and that harm wouldnt become me
I have been set the task of doing the same exercise and hyperventilating to bring on the symptoms each day and completing a Becks anxiety sheet straight after
I am still quite sceptical about the benefits of putting myself through this
Has anyone been here before - ?
Did it work for you ?

never done that myself but i can definetly see what the benefit would be. after numerous times of bringing panic attack on in a safe environment, they won't feel so scary. you will realise nothing is going to happen to you and that you are safe. basically facing your fear and the more you do it the less fearful you'll be!

give it a really good try

Why do you need to 'do' a panic attack?

If you did, surely all you need to do is remember and fully associate yourself into the memory of one you had, amplify the feeling and wham, you're there.

What's the approach the therapist is using?
