Hi I have anxiety problems begining 7months ago after replacement lens surgery. Have tried lots of things to get better but not had much success. Wondering if hypnotherapy might help? I am 57 hope age doesnt go against getting well - I have tried citalipram but no help and currently prescribed propanonol 80mg daily still new to it. Wondering if I should let doctor try another antidepressant but am wary of stories about side effects. She wanted me to try venlaflaxine. Its such a minefield isnt it? Would give anything to get well though!

Hello and welcome! I hope you find what you need :)

The people I've spoken to on here about hypnotherapy didn't find it very helpful, but I've got friends who had their respective issues cured by it, so I'm looking into it too.
The nhs have a few tips on what to look for to find someone legitimate on the website:

Hi, Marina! I'm on venlaxafine (Effexor) and so far so good. My doctor is taking it slow with increases. I wouldn't be afraid of trying it, if yours thinks you should and you feel you're likely to be on an antidepressant for a good while. It has more than just an SSRI effect, and can help with everything from mild all the way to severe symptoms. I am on it for depression, mainly. I like that we can up the dosage as needed. ... Anyway, good luck :)

:) Hi Marina. I have suffered with panic attacks for the past 7 years. I have been free for the past two years and WHAM in the past two months it returned trying to make up for lost time. My Dr put me on Urbanol which seems to be working. I have also stopped drinking which has really calmed the anxiety. Hope this helps. xx
