Sharp pain down back of throat

The other night whilst in bed when I lay down (this has happened once before randomly when in a supermarket at Christmas), I felt this really strange sharp pain all down the right side of my throat, spreading to my ears, I don't think it was my heart as the pain was mainly at the back of my throat, very severe though and I thought I may pass out. It happened the minute I lay down?
Any ideas?

Ive had this once before it was a few years bavk but the pain was at the front just inder my chin, I realised I must have turned my neck quickly and funny. .

I have no idea what it could be... maybe a pulled muscle if you turned your neck funny or something??
