what is a lipoma

I,ve had a chesty cough for about a month but I think finaly is just going.but I also had a cold just over a month back and ear infec. and that's when I noticed my soft moveable pea sized lump. behind my ear. so I,ve had it for a month maybe. it,s still the same but sometimes I feel like I can,t feel it.other times it,s pinpoint. someone on this forum said it could be a lipoma. that,s not cancer is it. is it just a fatty lump.
