Hi, I've been taking 20mg now for about 18 months and once the side effects were out of the way I have got on well with Citalopram, with the odd bad day. However I've been feeling really low now for a few weeks and just can't seem to shake it, does anyone know if you can build up a tolerance to it?

I have wondered this myself as I didn't seem to be coping so well. I saw my GP who has increased my medication and within days I'm feeling good again. I've only increased from 20 mg to 25 mg (I break a 10mg in half) and the doctor says I can increase to 30 mg if necessary but I'm doing well on the 25 mg. I would speak with your doctor again about increasing your dose.

Yes antidepressants can stop working.... it is often referred to as 'poop-out' online. No idea why it happens but it seems to be quite a common thing. Increasing the dose or changing medications are the only options really. Speak to your doctor.
