View Full Version : What is "excessive swallowing?"

Many of my current symptoms - extremely tight throat, shortness of breath, dizziness, sweating, gas gurgling up my throat and a tight chest - seem to begin whenever I swallow, or whenever I need to clear my throat of mucus buildup. My tongue seems to tense up and it feels like I need to swallow twice to get anything down, even brown bread.

At the same time, clearing my throat is the only way I can become relieved of dizziness/difficulty taking a full deep breath. My question therefore is, how do I know if I'm swallowing too much? Since I don't usually feel like this until I swallow, is my swallowing causing symptoms, or is something else behind them?
