I don't know if this will help anyone but it seemed to help me understand somethings that really make sense about depression and thoughts about overcoming it ..Its buddist but its really universal. It was just a thought.I read buddist text about overcoming fear and death at night and it helps me settle down and relax..I hope it works for someone else...Just read through the text on depression and maybe it will help.. the link is below..

PRAYER FOR FREEDOM FROM SUFFERING

May all beings everywhere plagued
with sufferings of body and mind
quickly be freed from their illnesses.
May those frightened cease to be afraid,
and may those bound be free.
May the powerless find power,
and may people think of befriending each other.
May those who find themselves in trackless, fearful wilderness--
the children, the aged, the unprotected--
be guarded by beneficent celestials,
and may they swiftly attain Buddhahood.

Thanks for that L4A,

I have bookmarked it for later. I often used to listen to "Thought For The Day" on radio here, (I happened to be driving to work when it was on) and have often found wise words in many religions. I dont consider myself to belong to any particular religion but I can relate to many of the themes running through them all.

What's so funny about peace, love and understanding?

Hi guys

My husband is a man of science and as such doesn't take to faith or religion terribly well (although he's one of the few men I know who lives his life with real christian values). Having said that, he has always said that if he chose a religion it would be Buddhism.

Buddhists seem to possess an inner peace and calm - a serenity seldom seen in the world today.

I think the prayer is wonderful - I'm going to copy it out, learn it and use it.

Thanks for sharing.
