Hi there,

My name is Alan.

Not really sure why I'm here but I thought I'd give it a go.

I'm 21 and really down at this point in my life, for about five years I have felt like this and like nothing will ever improve. Since last October I have been prescribed 20mg of citalopram a day but I'm not sure this is as effective anymore.

I have recently started a new job that I thought would make me happier but the stress of it is really pushing me closer to the edge. My girlfriend tries to be supportive but I don't think she understands what it is like to be like this and she gets upset knowing I'm upset.

I guess I'm just looking for people who understand.

Thank you,

I'd be keen to speak to anyone who suffers from bad anxiety and depression.

I'm usually a bit more jokey and upbeat but I'm having a really bad day today lol

Hi Alan and welcome,
Have you spoke to your gp about not feeling much better on the cit? :)

I haven't been to my GP in a few months, it worked to begin with but with rising stress I'm not sure it is as effective...

My girlfriend has told me to go back so I will instead of just asking for my repeat prescription :)

I would definitely go back for a chat.
It may be that the dose needs tweaking or maybe cit isn't the best one for you.
I had that happen to me with venlafaxine,it just sort of 'pooped out' in the end,and I had another ad added to it,and the combination helped get me out of a really bad period of depression and anxiety over the last few months.
It was one of the worst episodes I've ever had,and it was a real struggle for a while, but I'm much better now.
I know how awful it can be,and how it can put a strain on relationships.
Starting a new job is a stressful enough event for anyone as well.
Its very difficult to e!explain to someone who hasn't been through it.
