so yesterday i had my consultation with gastroenterolist regarding my stomach pain for 4 years which has recently got worst.

They told me that as my blood tests are fine and I have no red flag symptoms such as weight loss or bleeding then i do not need an endoscopy.

They have diagnosed me with functional dyspepsia - they say my stomach is sensitive and its very common.

How can they say that without looking??

They said that as im only 29 without red flags the guidelines say its nothing!!

If i was over 55 then they would routinely do an endoscopy.

Anyone else had this? If it's cancer then obviously its going to kill me

That's actually great news! At least now you can enjoy the rest of the summer knowing it's not cancer (blood work is good). Take your PPI, watch what you eat and enjoy!

You've had pain for 4 years but have no red flag symptoms, even if the pain did get worse. It doesn't look very likely you have cancer. If you were over 55 you'd have a statistical risk and thus they would test, but you are 29. The likelihood is so slight that you have cancer its pretty much 0, and that's if you actually had any symptoms.

They can tell without looking because it is their job to. They see patients day in day out and know exactly what they are looking for, especially the consultants / specialists. Plus they have had years in training.
