I've had an itch on my back between my spine and shoulder blade on the right side for close to 3 months. It's just out of reach from my fingers so I'm always using a back scratcher, asking my wife to scratch "the spot" or rubbing my back against something like a bear ~lol~ It drives me crazy!

When I went to my GP, she couldn't see anything and said to use a cortisone cream. It's been working Ok but I wrote my cancer team about it and they referred my question to a dermatologist at Johns Hopkins. While they'll check it when I go in August, they seem to think it's a side effect from chemo treatment that, like the neuralgia I suffer from, called notalgia paresthetica or neuropathic itch. It's when the nerves from the spinal cord are affected by/for any number of reasons.

Fun fun right?... anyway.... nothing sinister but it sure is a PITA... just wanted to vent ;)

Oh Fishmanpa. You will not believe this but I am having the same thing.
I have wear and tear at the bottom of my spine. (arthritis )my latest
complaint health wise. Treated with pain killers when needed.

I have been lying on the floor while my husband finds the spot I cannot reach
while he scratched the spot where it was -and it hurt.
There is no skin rash. just the shoulder blade thing, right on side.
I have had it for a couple of months.
Some days it is worse than others. It drives me bonkers
When I sit down I feel as though my shoulder blade is jutting out and
stops from me from sitting comfortable
I maybe ought to see GP xx
