Medication while nursing?

Has anyone been able to take medication for anxiety while nursing? I am a mother to a five month old who is exclusively breastfed, and I am hoping to nurse until he is at least a year old. My anxiety is at an all time high, and medication would certainly help, but I have severe health anxiety and I know all the health benefits of nursing for both mom and baby and I am not willing to compromise on those. Also, on the rare occasion that I do pump for him, he does not like the bottle, so it would be difficult to switch from breast to bottle now.

Saw my new doctor today and was prescribed Effexor. Was told that studies were done that showed the medication had no effect on the baby, so I am comfortable taking it. Just thought I'd update this post in case anyone searching has the same question. :)

I took a low dose of zoloft while breastfeeding both my kids. They are perfectly healthy.
