Pain by ear/jaw

I keep getting a pain by my right ear. Its right behind where my jaw curves. It doesn't feel swollen. Sometimes the pain goes up infront of my ear but for the most part it feels like a ball of pain right between my jaw and ear. any suggestions on what this could be??

I had something similar to this. It was caused by holding my jaw too tensed causing the muscles to tighten and then cause pain. I wasn't even aware of I was doing this, until it was pointed out to me. I did some gentle massage movements and it went. If you are worried, see a GP about it, but my guess would be tension.
