prozac and alprazolam - and alcohol!

My doctor has prescribed fluoxetina 20mg per day ( generic prozac -I live in Spain).I was previously on alprazolam 150 mg per day, and was quite surprised she wanted to continue it together with the Prozac.
I thought I read somewhere that caution should be taken with this combination. I have been anxious about health issues and this has spiralled into depression.
Any information and reassurance would be welcome.
Also what's the practicalities about alcohol intake with these drugs!

Hi rogerzere, I do suffer for anxiety. I was on alprozolam x almost 3 years. Now my doctor want me to switch to prozac so for now I'm taking both, but slowly i should leave alprozolam and stay only on prozac. My doctor said that it is for depression but in two or three months will help with the anxiety. I already search x side effects x the combinations of these two drugs and so far it safe to do it. I only have a week on prozac so no difference noticed yet. Let me know how u r doing. Good luck!

Both medications advise no alcohol as it will enhance the effects x
