Hi! Very first post! I am excited to be here. I am impressed with the level headness of the advice that I see posted and hope this site will help me. And who knows? Maybe I could help someone in return. I have depression and anxiety. I was hospitalized for severe depression about 15 years ago. And I have been managing well since then, except for recently as I seem to be having a relapse of some kind. I am guessing it is kmbecause of severe back pain that I have been having. It seems to have spiral ed depression and anxiety ever down ward. I received some therapy and that has seemed to stopped the spiral downwards, but I do feel stuck as I do not feel back to normal. So that is me for now! Hope to post more soon.

Welcome Laugh,

Where is your back pain? I had lower back pain for a couple of months; like a nagging feeling and sometimes quite sharp. I even had several massages and it didn't help and sometimes I found it difficult to get up. There were things going on with my stomach at the time and I naturally thought it was something more serious. But, there was nothing seriously wrong. I had lost a lot of weight due to my Anxieties and my stomach being the core of the problems was affecting my back. I had really bad acid reflux and once that had settled, the pain went. I started to eat smaller but regular meals until I was back to normal, but although I like a lot of naughty foods, I try to healthy ones too. It was definitely the stomach that caused my problems.

Thank you! I had an mri scan done and it showed degenerative arthritis and inflammation in my back. I have been seeing various doctors for about 6 months and not getting any relief. I suppose that is why the depression reared it's ugly head. I felt at a dead end, and was feeling hopeless. I didn't even realize it until the therapist put it into words for me. I also have to face the changes going on in my life, especially the ones concerning my back. I am not able to do everything I once did.
But things are turning for better as I have found a different doctor who might be able to offer me some relief!

Hi Laugh,

Welcome to the site. I have had lower back pain a couple of times in the past. Nothing serious, but can be agonizing with the wrong twist or stretch. It did get better!

Is the arthritis under control? Have you seen a pain management specialist as well as the orthopedic/arthritis people?
