View Full Version : Is this normal?

Having a bad day today, and I have no idea if it's due to the condition or the medication or a combination of the two. I just feel really angry about having to go through this, yet a part of me at the moment doesn't want to get better. If I get better I'll have to go back to work and cope with everything again. I can't even face going to the town where I work.

I know I should be pushing myself to do things, and I feel caught in the trap of being depressed inside, but anxious out. I don't know what to do for the best.

It hasn't been helped by the fact that my beloved houserabbit died this week, and again I have no idea how much that is affecting all of this. I just feel I had more influence on my emotions last week.

Any advice on this 'stage' of the illness would be gratefully received.

I'm not too clued up on medication but I think you have to give it a couple of weeks to get into your system,

We have all been through the 'why me' stage and it is totally understandable. The best thing (in my opinion) is to get angry at the depression/anxiety and don't let it beat you.

You have taken some positive steps to get 'better', and sometimes we all have days like these. Try and relax and have a chilled night and tomorrow will hopefully be a better day . Don't be too hard on yourself


I am so sorry about your rabbit, losing an animal can be very very painful as we can get soo close to them.

Hi

Medication at the start can make you feel a little worse due to the side effects but they do die down and they do take a while to start working.

It will probably be a combination of both. We all get angry with this illness, which in turn builds up the negative side of it and we also feel we cant be bothered to get better by fighting it.

It is hard as you start to get control of it because then you do have the daunting thought of getting your life back on track, ie work, socialising etc.

But on the other side of the coin, i found i improved a lot whilst i was on the sick but on returning to work didnt feel ready for it. But sometimes we need to get back into our lifes routine to actually push ourselves and that in turn makes you feel a little better. I am not saying you will be ready for work or when that time will be. As time it does take.

I dont think anyone who has been off work with stress, depression or anxiety can go back and say they are 100% fit, because until you are back at work doing the job you were doing and coping with it, only then can you say you are better.

I hope you are feeling a little better as the day has gone on.

hello there,

I know exactly what you're going through!! I remember feeling the same way myself. don't worry, it does get better!! It's hard to feel positive about anything at the stage you're at. The only piece of advice I can think of giving you is to try to dwell more on the things you have achieved. Think about them when you go to bed at night or even write them down if you feel it helps, then just try to push yourself a little further the next day. Things WILL get better!!

I think fear of getting better is a common thing - often people can become almost happy or content in their little safety bubble and feel that breaking out of it in an attempt to get better would be too much.

However, I think deep down you DO want to get better and you must accept that this is going to be challenge with bits that you don't enjoy.

Keep on going, the medication should help and hopefully soon you'll feel more positive about wanting to tackle the world!

Thanks guys! Still very up and down but having positive moments, so that has to be good. Thanks for the moral support. You know it yourself, but sometime it's hard to see the wood for the trees!
