Has anyone else got at all steamed up seeing the new advertising hoardings from the British Heart Foundation (the one with the man whose chest is squeezed in with a belt)? It seems to be suggesting that we should run to the hospital with every twinge in the chest - as if I wasn't anxious enough!!

Also woke up this morning to hear an advert from the same foundation suggesting that loads of us are going to keel off this mortal coil over Christmas, thinking that we have indigestion when it is really a heart attack.

My chest is frequently aching or twingeing through tension and fibromyalgia and always gets worse when I am approaching Christmas which I can't cope with. I also get spasms in my jaw from neuralgia and TMJ - according to the BHF this is a heart attack about to happen.

Pehaps I am just a little too suggestible - we can all induce symptoms when we hear these health reports or read them in magazines and newspapers. Or is it just me??

What do you all think??????

I haven't seen it though my hubby commented on the belt one, he thought it was scare mongering too.

Yeah seen the ad the other day and thought it was a bit OTT to be honest. I guess a lot of people may misinterept it and get very anxious by it.

There's also a similar one (NHS) for heart attack symptoms in chemists I've noticed recently. Just reading it brought on the symptoms and I was only in there buying shower gel. I left it and went to Tesco instead !

NO its just not you..everywhere you read the news it talks about heart attacks and such.. and also every other commercial on television ..I have got to where i dont read the news too much and when one of those commercials comes on I just mute it and turn my head..

PRAYER FOR FREEDOM FROM SUFFERING

May all beings everywhere plagued
with sufferings of body and mind
quickly be freed from their illnesses.
May those frightened cease to be afraid,
and may those bound be free.
May the powerless find power,
and may people think of befriending each other.
May those who find themselves in trackless, fearful wilderness--
the children, the aged, the unprotected--
be guarded by beneficent celestials,
and may they swiftly attain Buddhahood.

I totally agree with this. A local radio station was running a cmpaign on cervical cancer and they made it sound so much worse. like 70 woman die from it every year. But thats out of a pooulation of about 3.5 million women. Also they said its the second highest cause of cancer death between women aged 13-40.People at this age are ay less likely to get cancer anyway>they can use statistics to fit anything.
I think that on the whole people are too heatlh aware and thats why we have heatlh anxierty!!!!!

It takes a minute to get anxiety, but a lifetime to get rid of it!!!
