Herpes on inanimate objects?

I was cleaning things today in the office, and I ended up cleaning a telephone that hasn't been cleaned in awhile.

After I was done I suddenly had an itch by my upper lip so I proceeded In itching.

Could the herpes virus go from the phone, to my hand, to my mouth?

Herpes virus 1 and 2 need mucus membrane contact. No chance you can catch either oral or genital herpes from handling a telephone.
